Research Interests

Dr. Dixon's research interests center on clinical judgment development in nursing education and its impact on patient safety and population health outcomes. She focuses on the use of case-based and unfolding case study methodologies to support clinical reasoning and competency development in prelicensure nursing students in both didactic and clinical settings. Areas of inquiry include implementation of the Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM), faculty preparedness in accelerated programs, and evaluation of clinical judgment outcomes. Her work examines how educational preparation influences early recognition of clinical deterioration, prevention of complications, and overall healthcare quality across diverse populations.
