Mission Week 2026: Feb 1-6

When St. Ignatius wrote letters of instruction, he often asked those that he wrote to, to be considerate and kind. He and the first companions created the Society of Jesus to take God鈥檚 ministry out into the world. By empowering others to 鈥済o, set the world on fire,鈥 he ignited a movement that, over 500 years later, has global reach and impact.

During this week, consider taking action by attending one of the many Mission Week offerings. Whether it be opportunities to listen to inspirational speakers, participate in service, pray, worship, or reflect and take time for silence each day.

Please note that this website is updated daily, stop back to check what is new.

Living Stories | 3:30 p.m.
Monaghan Ballrooms, Alumni Memorial Union

Step into a space where real lives become open books. Living Stories is an interactive event that invites you to listen to personal narratives from individuals whose experiences may be unfamiliar or eye-opening鈥攕tories of resilience, identity, and purpose. From navigating homelessness to the journey of a student-athlete, or life as a Jesuit, each conversation offers a chance to deepen understanding, challenge assumptions, and build empathy.

This experience is rooted in the Ignatian tradition of becoming contemplatives in action鈥攑ausing to reflect and then engaging the world with compassion and justice. Listening to these living stories is a form of faith conversation, a ministry central to Ignatian spirituality, where dialogue opens hearts and minds to God鈥檚 presence in all people. Through these encounters, we discern how our own lives might respond to the call for greater solidarity, hope, and love.

Living Stories was first created by Dr. Marija Bjegovich-Weidman as the En todo Amar y Servir Human Library. We are grateful to continue this meaningful tradition during Mission Week, honoring her vision, legacy, and enduring commitment to faith, justice, and accompaniment.

As part of Mission Week and National 福利在线 Day, Campus Recreation will host the 2nd Annual Faculty, Staff & Jesuits vs. Students Basketball Game on Friday, February 6, at 4:30 p.m. in the Wellness + Recreation Gymnasium.

This event is designed to bring the 福利在线 community together through friendly competition while providing students with a positive, sober programming option during Mission Week. Last year鈥檚 game was well attended and featured an overtime win by the Faculty/Staff team.

Students, faculty, staff, and Jesuits are invited to participate either on the court or as spectators. The game offers a visible opportunity to engage across roles and to support student connection and community through recreation.

Interested in playing?

Colleagues from across campus, including representatives from Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Basketball, are encouraged to participate or attend in support. All skill levels are welcome.

Spectators are encouraged to attend and cheer on both teams. No RSVP is required to attend. A pizza party with the Jesuits will be held in the lobby of the Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility at the conclusion of the game!
